As a Graduate ESG Investment Analyst, you will play a key role in supporting our investment teams by conducting detailed back-office data analysis related to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) criteria. This role focuses on analysing the sustainability performance of various investments, with the goal of integrating ESG considerations into our overall investment strategy. While your primary focus will be data-driven research and analysis, you will also have the opportunity to explore front-office responsibilities, such as contributing to client presentations and investment committee meetings. This combination of technical and client-facing work will provide a comprehensive understanding of the role ESG plays in investment decisions.

You will help develop strategies that ensure our investments not only generate financial returns but also contribute to positive environmental and social impacts. Your work will support the creation of resilient and sustainable investment portfolios, considering long-term ESG risks and opportunities.

What You Will Do

  • Perform detailed ESG analysis, focusing on evaluating the environmental, social, and governance performance of potential and existing investments.
  • Conduct back-office data work to track key ESG metrics such as carbon footprints, diversity metrics, governance structures, and social impact assessments.
  • Support the investment team in integrating ESG considerations into their decision-making processes.
  • Conduct thorough research on industry trends, regulations, and sustainability initiatives relevant to the investment portfolio.
  • Create reports and dashboards that summarise ESG performance and highlight risks and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with front-office teams to contribute to client meetings and presentations, gaining exposure to client-facing roles.
  • Assist in preparing materials for investment committee meetings, providing ESG insights on prospective investments.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest ESG regulations, frameworks, and best practices, ensuring that investments meet both legal and ethical standards.
  • Monitor and report on the ESG performance of our portfolio, identifying areas for improvement and impact.
  • Share lessons learned and ESG insights across projects to promote best practices within the investment team.

Your Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in finance, economics, sustainability, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Strong understanding of ESG principles and their integration into investment decisions.
  • Must be in possession or working towards level four FCA/PRA & investment, risk and taxation certificate.
  • Ability to conduct financial and non-financial data analysis with a focus on sustainability performance.
  • Interest in developing client-facing skills through presentations and meetings.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and presentation abilities, with an aptitude for collaboration and mentoring.
  • Passion for sustainability, responsible investing, and continuous learning.

Graduate Benefits

  • Competitive graduate salary with performance-based annual bonuses.
  • Comprehensive healthcare, including medical and dental cover.
  • Season ticket loan to support commuting costs.
  • Pension scheme with employer contributions.
  • Flexible working hours and a supportive, collaborative work environment.

  • Mentoring and training programmes to support career development.
  • Generous annual leave entitlement to promote work-life balance.
  • Opportunity to work in one of our offices nationwide, with flexible location options to suit your career goals.

This role is based in our London office, with the flexibility to work from any of our nationwide offices, offering the chance to be part of an innovative investment team while gaining exposure to both back-office ESG analysis and front-office client engagement.
